Public Information (P.I.)
Public Information (P.I.) in Alcoholics Anonymous means carrying the message of recovery to the still-suffering alcoholic by informing the general public about the A.A. program. We carry the message by getting in touch with the media, schools, industry, and other organizations which can report on the nature and purpose of A.A. and what it can do for alcoholics. The first Public Information committee in A.A. was formed by the General Service Board in 1956. At that time, the following statement of “A.A.’s movement wide public information policy” was written and approved by the General Service Conference:

Mission
The purpose of this standing committee is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the alcoholic who still suffers through the use of the media and public speakers.
This committee serves as the central source of information that is made available to the public in the Eastern Mass. area regarding Alcoholics Anonymous.
The committee ensures that any information the public receives is correct and is given within the guidelines of the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Focus
- Giving presentations about A.A to schools and organizations.
- Providing information about A.A. through digital and print materials.
- Insuring local media have accurate information about A.A. through PSAs, anonymity-protected interviews and press kits.
P.I. Committee Meeting
The P.I. Committee meets at 7:00pm on the 1st Thursday of every month virtually on Zoom. (Please visit the Area 30 calendar for more info)
